The Pender Harbour, Ruby Lake and Egmont areas each have their own unique characteristics and offer unparalleled experiences for holiday visitors. Our businesses, museums, interpretative centres, accommodations, hiking trails, waterways and vistas are for you to enjoy. We encourage you to come visit, make yourself at home, get to know the 'locals' and take advantage of all we have to offer.

Pender Harbour was nicknamed "Venice of the North" many years ago because of its beautiful, intricate waterways. As in Venice, the best way to see the Harbour is by boat. Pender Harbour consists of many small communities. Madeira Park is the main shopping area and community hub on the south side of the Harbour and the first community you encounter as you drive up the Coast from Sechelt and Gibsons.
On the north side of the Harbour you will find Garden Bay, Hospital Bay, and Irvine's Landing, each with its own unique character. Drive around the Harbour and enjoy the always beautiful, always-changing scenery, from the tidal bay with its sometimes mud flats, sometimes ocean, to the freshwater lakes where the water is clear and refreshing, to the bustling marinas where locals like to gather for a cold beer or a huge ice cream cone.
Pender Harbour is a hiker's paradise. Check out Francis Point Marine Park, or for a more strenuous workout, climb Pender Hill or Mount Daniel (both of which offer spectacular views).
Accommodations range from pitching a tent in a local campground to setting up house in a cozy cabin, to luxuriating in a five-star resort. To experience the charm of Pender Harbour, boat tours and charters are available to show off our beautiful shores and to take you to the best fishing spots.
The calm waters of Ruby Lake and the Lagoon are waiting for you to enjoy. It is also home to the Iris Griffith Nature Interpretive Centre a stellar facility to learn everything from the geophysical to the flora and fauna of not only our area but the whole Sunshine Coast.
Egmont is home to the world-famous Skookumchuk Rapids, the largest inland salt water rapids in North America. The village offers small-town charm with world-class views. Boat trips to the well-known Chatterbox Falls at the head of Princess Louisa Inlet are available and highly recommended. The village also offers dining establishments and accommodation from camping, B&Bs, to motels and resorts.
