Pender Harbour and Egmont are located at the very north tip of the Sunshine Coast's Sechelt Peninsula. Pender Harbour is surrounded by settlements. With mostly residential areas sprinkled with waterfront resorts, Pender Harbour includes Daniel Point, Irvine's Landing, Hospital Bay, Garden Bay, Kleindale, Francis Peninsula (or Beaver Island at high tide) and the village of Madeira Park, the commercial center for the entire northern peninsula all the way past Sakinaw Lake, Ruby Lake, Earl's Cove and ending in the tiny village of Egmont, home of the Skookumchuck Rapids, the #1 attraction in the Sunshine Coast. The population of the northern peninsula is less than 3,000 people. Egmont at the north end of the Sunshine Coast highway has little over 100 residents, but is host to close to 40,000 visitors who hike to the Skookumchuck Rapids every year.
