Larry Curtiss, Chamber Director
Pender Harbour & Egmont Chamber of Commerce
Larry and his wife Linda moved to Pender Harbour 1971. They have a son, a daughter and four grandchildren. Their main business was Lowes Resort, which they sold many years ago. They continue to own and operate Squirrel Storage. Linda served as volunteer secretary of the Pender Harbour Chamber of Commerce, plus ran the Madeira Park Visitors Information Booth for many years.
Larry is our longest serving Chamber Director and over the years, he has held most of the executive positions within our Chamber. He is currently the Chair of our Highways and the “Light Up The Harbour” committees, plus a member of our “Shop Local” committee. Larry is the go-to guy when it is time to put up our summertime banners and any other such jobs.
Larry has always been a very active volunteer in our community. Since 1972, Larry has volunteered for the Pender Harbour Fire Hall, making him is the longest serving fireman in our community. He is a founding member and Chairman of the Pender Harbour Growth and Development Partnership, which was the driving force behind the revitalization of the Madeira Park downtown core. Projects he has spearheaded include improving the entrance to Madeira Park with the display of the Harbour Spirit Gardens and Boat, the creation of the Madeira Park Community Gardens and the establishment of the wetlands conservatory/park in downtown Madeira Park. As well as his Chamber work, Larry is serving on the Pender Harbour Advisory Councils Transportation Committee and their Bikeways and Walkways Committee. In 2003, Larry was presented with a Community Leadership Award from Community Futures. In 2012, Larry received a Partnership award from the BC Principals and Vice Principals Association.
