Matt McDonald was born in Sechelt and raised in Pender Harbour. Growing up here in the 80s and 90s, Matt’s spare time was spent fishing the local waters, playing basketball at “the wall” in Madeira Park, and golfing at the Pender Harbour Golf Club.

Matt’s career in the grocery store business began when he was only 13 years old and he started working at the IGA in Madeira Park. Upon graduation from Pender Harbour Secondary School, Matt moved to Langley where he worked as Assistant Store Manager for IGA for almost 17 years. In 2016, Matt and his wife Alana made the best decision of their lives – they moved back to Pender Harbour with their 2 children and took on jobs at the Madeira Park IGA. In late 2022, the IGA was purchased by Georgia Main and Matt took on the position of Corporate Store Manager. As a Chamber Director, Matt is an active community member who also volunteers for the Pender Harbour Fire Department.
