Visit the Village of Egmont

The Egmont Heritage Centre offers a Visitor Information Center and is located across from the entrance to the Skookumchuck Rapids hike. Find free parking, washrooms, a gift shop and displays of historic artifacts that paint a picture of this fishing and logging community.

Drive down to the tiny village with world-class views. Visit the smallest post office and the Egmont Community Hall and thrift store offering a playground, picnic tables and porta-potties.

CAMPING

For primitive lakeside camping, take North Rd to find Klein Lake Recreation Site & Campground.

Timberline RV Park is close to the Earls Cove BC Ferries Terminal.

In Egmont, Bathgate Resort & Marina has a few oceanside campsites and Strongwater has campsites and sleeping cabins.

Closer to Pender Harbour is the Stonewater Motel and Camping, close to the PetroCan on Garden Bay Rd.

Bathgate Resort & Marina has beautiful waterfront suites and a well-stocked liquor and general store, washrooms, showers and a small laundromat with a view.

Rent a fishing boat or take a boat trip to watch the Skookuchuck Rapids from the water if you are looking for thrills! The marina offers moorage and a fuel dock.

West Coast Wilderness Lodge has deluxe accommodations and offers great kayak, jet ski and boat tour packages with lunch included in their restaurant Inlets with magnificent views.

Backeddy Resort & Marina offers vintage cabins and the funkiest waterfront geodesic domes, laundromat, propane and scuba tank filling stations, boat launch and tons of dock space for mooring transient boats, and a waterfront pub!

In Ruby Lake

Just 15 minutes south of Egmont and north of Madeira Park, find the Ruby Lake Resort with its excellent restaurant La Trattoria. Stay in a safari tent or in a cabin by the lagoon, it’s a magical place!

The #1 Attraction in the Sunshine Coast!

Make sure to check tides before you hike to the Rapids! CHECK TIDE SCHEDULE HERE.

  • To see kayakers surfing the rapids, check dates and times when tides are EXTRA-LARGE +XL (plus sign)
  • To see whirlpools off North Point, check dates and times when tides are EXTRA LARGE -XL (minus sign) ebb tides

NOTE: Hiking from the parking lot to the rapids takes approximately 1 hour. Time your hike to reach the rapids during larger tides.

​​​Hike the Suncoaster Trail

The Suncoaster Trail starts at the intersection of the Sunshine Coast Highway and Egmont Road, the 6 Km road that takes you to the village of Egmont.

Earls Cove BC Ferries Terminal

Take a 50 minute ferry to Powell River and find Lund at the end of the road where Desolation Sound starts.

Tour Boat Cruises

Boaters stop in Egmont before heading up to the well-known Chatterbox Falls at the head of Princess Louisa Inlet. Because it is a whole day trip to get to Princess Louisa, including crossing treacherous Malibu Rapids, many boaters join other visitors in adventure boat tours for an unforgettable day trip. Princess Louisa is considered to be the gem of the Sunshine Coast for it’s untouched beauty. For the best views, take a float plane tour to see the huge waterfalls from the air!
