EGMONT AREA OVERVIEW
About 20 minutes north of Madeira Park, is the Iris Griffiths Nature Center and the start of the Egmont area. Just north of that is beautiful Ruby Lake and lagoon, where you can rent a kayak or visit the resort and Italian restaurant. Next you find Dan Bosch Park with its sandy beach on Ruby Lake. 15 minutes north is the end of the Sunshine Coast Highway, the Earls Cove BC Ferries Terminal and a small bistro.
The road to the Village of Egmont, the home of the Skookumchuck Rapids starts a mile before the ferry terminal.. At the entrance to Egmont find the Egmont Heritage Centre and a campground with cabins. For more accomodations, visit Egmont’s three waterfront resorts and marinas: Bathgate Resort & Marina, the West Coast Wilderness Lodge & Inlets Restaurant, and the Backeddy Resort & Marina and Pub. These resorts offer float plane and boat tours to Princess Louisa inlet and spectacular Chatterbox Falls, the gem of the Sunshine Coast!
TAKE A BC FERRY
A 40-minute ferry boat ride from Horseshoe Bay (West Vancouver) brings you to Langdale (Sunshine Coast). Drive north for an hour on a scenic coastal highway to Pender Harbour. Drive only another half hour to reach the end of the road in the Village of Egmont, home of the Skookumchuck Rapids and Whirlpools.
If coming from Powell River, take the Saltery Bay ferry boat to Earl’s Cove. Only a kilometer from the Earls Cove BC Ferry Terminal is the 6Km road to the Village of Egmont. To reach Pender Harbour, don’t turn into Egmont Road and keep driving south on the Sunshine Coast Highway for half hour to Pender Harbour.
Phone a live operator at the Langdale BC Ferries Terminal to ask about current conditions and other information requests. Tel. 604-886-2242
